The strangest bedfellows in Nashville this session have formed with a bipartisan bill, likely to pass, sponsored in the House by Democratic Caucus Chair state Rep. Mike Turner and in the Senate by Republican state Sen. Stacey Campfield.
The bill makes it illegal to transmit someone’s naked photographs via the Internet and social media without the subject’s permission. The bill’s purpose is to stop the practice of mostly boyfriends posting naked photographs of their former girlfriends, taken during the relationship.
The bill, which imposes up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine, has already met with approval by a House committee. It has yet to come up in the Senate.
