Sometimes It's Personal

Have you ever entered an intersection with the light green only to have traffic stop in front of you and then the light change? Then the red light camera sends you a ticket?

There was a bill in last session of the Legislature to forbid you being ticketed in such a circumstance and it passed the Senate. But it languished in the House Transportation Committee and when that committee shut down for the year the bill was doomed.

Then House Transportation Committee Chairman Vince Dean got a call from his daughter confessing to having gotten a ticket for running a red light. He asked her why she ran a red light and she explained she was trapped in the intersection when the light changed.

The committee quickly opened back up and the bill sailed all the way to the governor’s desk.

You should no longer get a ticket if you are trapped in an intersection and the light changes.
