Knox Crowdfunding Project of the Month: Scruffy City Cinema Club

The pop culture blog Smash Cut Magazine wants to bring (and support) more interesting film fare in Knoxville. “Plain and simple, we love movies, and we want to share that love with as many people as possible, whether that’s through showing films from artists of regional, national, and international origins, fostering an environment for the discussion of movies, or helping Knoxville filmmaking folks get their weird and wonderful projects made,” declares their IndieGoGo mission statement. Do they know what they’re doing? It’s hard to tell. But they’re trying to raise just $1,750 by Sept. 14, and they promise a screening of A Band Called Death with a live performance by Teenage Love 13—so their heart’s in the right place, at least.
