Not a Candidate to be Bullied

While still a student at Oak Ridge High School, Caitlin Nolan went to the Legislature to successfully lobby for passage of the state’s anti-bullying law. State Rep. John Ragan, R-Oak Ridge, sought to weaken the anti-bullying bill this past session by suggesting that students had the freedom of speech to speak out against gay students.

That’s one of the issues that led Nolan, now a 24-year-old University of Tennessee graduate, to announce this week that she is running against Ragan in the upcoming Republican primary.
