County Races Might Be Ho-Hum

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of drama in Knox County political races thus far.

Michelle Carringer is running for a vacant at-large seat on County Commission. Bob Thomas is running for the other one. No candidates seemed to have emerged as yet for the seat being vacated by the term-limited Commission Chair Tony Norman.

Because of the restructuring of Commission, many of the commissioners drew six-year terms and will not face re-election next year.

So the big contested race of the ballot next year will likely be Ed Shouse vs. Craig Leuthold for the trustee job. Shouse is giving up his County Commission seat to run and Leuthold got appointed to the job earlier this year after Trustee John Duncan III resigned.

County Mayor Tim Burchett and Sheriff Jimmy “JJ” Jones appear to be favorites to win another term.
