Knoxville is lucky to have many Etsy proprietors who studied at the University of Tennessee, and Beverly Pridemore is among their number, though she says she’s also been drawing and painting most of her life. An Etsy vendor just since March, her favorite crafts for Dayberry Creations involve beads (like her hemp and blue bead earrings) or floorcloths, like this 2-foot by 3-foot “Cats” version she hand-painted in acrylic on heavyweight canvas from custom-designed stencils. It’s waterproof, too, and can be cleaned with a damp mop, sponge, or paper towel. Other floorcloths are brightened by pansies or pink dogwoods, proof positive that she’s still here in East Tennessee, the home of many of her ancestors, too. “I chose the name Dayberry name to be a part of my shop name because it is my great grandmother’s maiden name,” Pridemore says.
