Knoxville, Tenn. is a real jewel and so are the folks that reside there. May God bless them.
There is a place here on Gay Street wherein there are three locations worthy of note: the McClung Historical Collection, the Knox County Archives, and the Museum of East Tennessee History and Gift Shop.
I moved away from my “hometown” Knoxville at the age of three. I am now 51. I was drawn back here to answer some genealogy questions because I am curious and had heard family tales and myths.
This is not the heart of the issue with regards to this letter. The following is: There is a painting of the famous musician Roy Acuff on the ground floor in the Museum of East Tennessee History located on Gay Street. There is a unique signature of the artist on the painting of Roy Acuff and this artist spells their name as follows: “Lee Lively.” There is a placard that identifies this artist as “A. Lee Lively.”
I have been told this painting of Roy Acuff came from or was acquired from Nashville. I have communicated with the staff at McClung regarding this artist in the hopes of identifying him or her. Can anyone else help? I’ve spent at least three hours “Googling” A. Lee Lively and Lee Lively. Thank you all.
