Knox Crowdfunding Plea of the Month
The very idea of childhood cancer is so terrifying to parents that many of them would probably rather avoid the topic altogether. That lack of public attention may be one reason why pediatric cancer gets comparatively less federal funding for research. Knoxville student filmmaker Micah Russell would like to help change that with his proposed documentary on the subject, which became personal for him when his 4-year-old nephew was diagnosed with Pylocytic Astrocytoma. He would like to raise $10,000 to profile five families dealing with the disease and “help people understand the struggles of pediatric cancer by showing the fight real families go through every day.” You can find his project at kickstarter.com.
