The University of Tennessee wants you to know that the Vols and the Lady Vols contributed $151 million to the state economy and $28 millions in tax revenue, providing 2,900 jobs last year.
The Athletics Department released the study last week. It was done by the UT Center for Business and Economic Research headed by Dr. Bill Fox.
The study says the athletics department spends $37 million on payroll, spends another $68 million and generates $45 million spent by fans. The department pays $28 million in state and local taxes, including paying Knoxville $1.5 million per year in amusement taxes collected at Neyland Stadium and Thompson-Boling Arena.
