The Republican-controlled, Tea Party dominated state Legislature has been making it clear they want little to do with President Barack Obama—rejecting a state insurance exchange under Obamacare, indicating resistance to expanding Medicaid, proposing a ban on state funds being used to enforce any Obama proposal to regulate guns.
At the same time, the state has hailed plans for the Nissan plant in Smyrna to install a new car production line to produce the Leaf electric cars. Indeed, the state is putting up $3.8 million in job training money to ease the transition.
Overlooked seems to be the fact that Nissan is financing the expansion with a $1.4 billion loan from the Obama administration to promote green projects.
