Knox County Commissioner Richard Briggs has announced plans to run for the state senate against incumbent Republican Stacey Campfield. It appears that the campaign has already started and we might get some indication of the direction of the race from a post on Campfield’s blog.
There is a headline asking “Who Hates the Tea Party” over a quote from Briggs in the News Sentinel saying the Tea Party has turned off a lot of people: “If Republicans don’t change we’re finished as party of anything other than white middle-aged men.”
The election is not until next year, but expect this race to heat up well beforehand.
