Does Campfield Know About This?

Tennessee’s “gay dog” escaped euthanasia after his story went worldwide on social media with press accounts as far away as the London Daily Mail. A woman in Jackson adopted the dog the day the shelter had him scheduled to be put down. She named the Pit Bull mix Elton.

The story began when the dog’s previous owner brought him to the animal shelter and dropped him off saying he refused to keep him because he was “gay.” He had seen the dog mounting another male dog. Veterinarians say the action was more likely the Pit Bull demonstrating dominance over the other dog rather than it being a sex thing.

Since the bill deadline has passed, the state Legislature isn’t likely to be able to pass a bill regulating gay animals in animal shelters—at least this year.
