Smoky Mountain Blues Society Looks for Memphis Contenders

The Smoky Mountain Blues Society is looking for local contenders for the 2014 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. In September, the society will hold local preliminary rounds at the Whammy Bar Cafe at Riks Music and Sound on Kingston Pike for the IBC, with the winner headed to the big show in Memphis Jan. 21-25.

The first two prelims will be held on Sept. 24 and 26, with a final round on Sept. 28. The entry fee is $25, and at least one member of each participating band must be a member of the Smoky Mountain Blues Society. A $5 cover charge for spectators ($3 for society members) will be collected toward the winning band’s travel expenses in January.
