Out-of-State Republican Candidates Raise Funds in Knoxville

Why is a U.S. Senate candidate in Virginia having a fund-raiser in Knoxville? Because that’s where the money is?

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-KY, hosted a fund-raiser in Knoxville for U.S. Senate candidate George Allen. Should the Republicans capture the Senate next week, McConnell will be Senate Majority Leader, a powerful position. Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, whose senate district borders Virginia, is a friend of Allen and solicited business people to attend.

So if the Republicans capture the Senate and you need something from Washington, it couldn’t hurt. So the Senate Minority Leader and the Lt. Gov. are able to draw a crowd and raise some money for Allen.
