—Memphis City Councilman Lee Harris, commenting in an Oct. 9 Memphis City Council press release on its examination of Knoxville’s new non-discrimination ordinance. In response to a query from Memphis Councilman Steve Mulray about the ordinance’s legality, Knoxville Deputy Law Director Ronald Mills responded that it did not violate the city charter: “...there is nothing in our Charter which we find to be a definitive and exclusive list of discriminatory practices.”
