Hardin Business Park Entices Cardboard Company

Knox County has been searching high and low for the first tenant in its Hardin Business Park. After an exhaustive search, they snaked 35 jobs from neighboring Grainger County with $140,000 in tax incentives.

BHS Corrugated North America has applied to move its Rutledge operations to Hardin Valley. The company makes material for cardboard boxes. Current employees in Grainger County now face an hour’s commute.

Defenders of the deal say the company had looked into moving out of state, possibly to the Carolinas, and the deal keeps them in the area.
