It still has more than a week to go (at press time), yet Leverage—The Carbon Fiber Credit Card Sized Bottle Opener is already 737 percent funded with $17,707 pledged from 574 backers. What is it, you ask? Why, it’s exactly what the name says it is—a flat card of carbon fiber with a slot big enough to fit a bottletop. And perhaps that’s why the designers at Kumquat (brothers Gregory and Michael Spaw) have been so successful raising money. It’s a nifty idea that’s simple and makes sense: a bottle opener that fits in your wallet. Plus, the twill carbon fiber looks cool, and Kumquat promises to make them in the USA.
