In your Sept. 13 issue, I read the quote from Jaclyn Cancro which said, “I think we need a restaurant that serves Fair Food: funnel cake, hot dogs, Italian sausage, etc. It should be open late night, too.” [What Knoxville Needs, Knox Triage section] While I feel that it is really fun to eat these types of food once a year at the fair, I also think that a permanent restaurant would mean that some people would actually eat these really fattening (and artery-clogging) “treats” regularly. Therefore, this is a ridiculous suggestion for East Tennessee, which has one of the worst obesity problems in the nation... partly because of this type of “bad-for-you” food. Maybe the suggestion was “tongue-in-cheek”—probably not.
