Modern Sound of the Lonetones

Local folk-rockers the Lonetones have gotten bigger since the release of their last album, Canaries, in 2009. And they’ve added a bunch of surprising guest spots on their new disc, Modern Victims, all of whom will be performing next month at the official CD release party at Relix Variety Theatre in Happy Holler.

The Canaries lineup—multi-instrumentalists/vocalists Steph Gunnoe and Sean McCollough, bassist Maria Williams, and drummer Steve Corrigan—now includes cellist Cecilia Blaire Miller, and Modern Victims also features guest appearances by rapper/spoken-word performer Black Atticus, horn players Kyle Campbell and Seth Hopper, percussionist Jon Whitlock, and guitarist Kevin Abernathy.

Each artist will reprise his contribution to the disc at the CD release show on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 8 p.m. Black Atticus and the Bearded, featuring Campbell, will open the show. Admission is $5, or $10 gets you in plus a copy of Modern Victims.
