Here Comes the Judge (Finalists)

Of the two former state senators vying for an open seat on the Eastern Section of the Court of Appeals, one made the final list and one didn’t. Former state Sen. Mike Faulk, an attorney from Hawkins County, made the list of three finalists to be submitted to Gov. Bill Haslam. Former state Sen. Dwayne Bunch, from Cleveland, did not make the list.

The other two finalists named by the Judicial Nominating Commission are Chancellor Thomas Frierson, of Morristown, and Chancellor Jerri S. Bryant, of Athens.

Haslam will pick one of the three for the seat open due to the upcoming retirement of Judge Hershel P. Franks.

Faulk did not seek re-election this year; Bunch gave up his seat in 2010.

Applicants from Knoxville included Esther Bell, David Edward Long, and Sarah Sheppeard. The applicants were interviewed in Chattanooga last week.
