Every day on my way to work I pass through the intersection of Kingston Pike and Neyland Drive/Concord Street. Every day I see a large sign that says “Shame on Alpha Omicron Pi” and in the fine print “Labor Dispute.” Beside the sign, one on each side, are two persons sitting, doing nothing.
The sign does not identify the entity that is sponsoring the sign—I assume it is a labor union that does not care to identify itself.
To me, this is a symbol of negativity and nonproductivity. I would hope that the American labor movement could present itself in a better way.
