Justin Townes Earle
8 p.m., The Square Room. $17-$20.
Never mind that he’s the son of Steve Earle, or that his father upped the ante by giving him a middle-name tribute to Townes Van Zandt. He’s good!
Friday, May 25
Pretty Things Peep Show
8 p.m., Relix Variety Theatre. $10-$15.
It’s got something to do with live music, burlesque, and circus performances—and with a name like that, how can you resist?
Saturday, May 26
Rockin’ the Docks
4 p.m, Lenoir City Park. Free.
Lenoir City’s annual fireworks and music Memorial Day celebration, featuring Jenna and Her Cool Friends, the RMS Band, Finkelsteen, and Richie Owens and the Farm Bureau. The docks shall indeed rock!
Monday, May 28
Honor Fountain City Day
Fountain City Park. Free.
This day-long Memorial Day observation has lots of activities, but the highlight may well be the reenactment of the mock funeral that was held 50 years ago for the “death of Fountain City” when it was annexed by Knoxville (2 p.m.).
Tuesday, May 29
City Council & County Commission Meetings
City County Building. Free.
It’s a holiday twofer! County Commission will meet at 1:45 p.m., while City Council gathers at 7:30 p.m.—both on the same day. Will this much local governance conducted in a single day blow a hole in the time-space continuum? Find out!
