The Weekly Plan-It: Thursday, July 19-Wednesday, July 25

Highlights of the week ahead

Thursday, July 19

Police Advisory and Review Committee Meeting

6 p.m., Woodlawn Christian Church (4339 Woodlawn Pike).

PARC meets quarterly, providing an independent review of police actions, with the goal of strengthening the relationship between the Knoxville Police Department and citizens. Coincidentally, check out Wednesday’s meeting.

Friday, July 20

Teenage Love

10 p.m., The Well. $5.

They’re ugly, nasty, and beloved.

Saturday, July 21

Julius Caesar

7 p.m., Market Square. Free.

The 10th anniversary season of Tennessee Stage Company’s Shakespeare on the Square includes the classic tragedy about the end of the Roman Republic. Probability of drunken high-schoolers clogging the Square: zero.

Monday, July 23

Knox County Commission Meeting

1:45 p.m., Main Assembly Room, City County Building.

When’s that whole “prayer-before-government-meetings” thing going to be worked out?

Wednesday, July 25

KPD Accreditation Public Hearing

3 p.m., Auditorium, Moses Center (220 Carrick Street).

The KPD will be undergoing an on-site reassessment for accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies this week. Here’s your chance to speak up (for 10 minutes) about how well you think the KPD complies with “accreditation standards.”
