Quote of the Week: 'There are no exceptions.'

"There are no exceptions. The rules are the rules and it’s unfortunate that some groups got left off. We could be in a lawsuit if we allowed them in."

—Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, commenting to News Sentinel reporter Mike Donila on the disqualification of two local nonprofits from its financial assistance program on technicalities: the Beck Cultural Exchange Center for being 11 minutes late with its application forms, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee for dropping them off only at the Knox County Clerk’s Office (they also needed to be at the county purchasing department).
