Thursday, Dec. 27
Spanky Brown
8 p.m., Side Splitters Comedy Club. $8-$12.
There’s not much happening in terms of community events this week, so we’re going to focus on local entertainers. Spanky Brown’s a BET Comic View veteran, preacher’s kid (“Even God knows I’m funny”), and repeat casualty in the battle of the sexes with a buffet of comic targets, something for everyone.
Friday, Dec. 28
Mic Harrison and the High Score
10 p.m., Preservation Pub. $5.
Mic Harrison makes unvarnished country rock, telling stories of lives lived hard, with a guardedly optimistic take on the vicissitudes of blue-collar life and peppered with dashes of ribald humor. And he rocks.
Saturday, Dec. 29
Magpie Suite
9 p.m., The Well. $7.
Local ‘90s bar favorites Magpie Suite reconvene for one night only!
Monday, Dec. 31
New Year’s Eve
11:59 p.m., all around town.
Oh, what to do, what to do.... wait a sec—we know! Just pull out the handy insert in this week’s issue to find all the New Year’s Eve events happening in Knoxville.
Tuesday, Jan.1
The Day After
All day.
Okay, relax.
