Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day
6 p.m.-7 p.m., Volunteer Ministry Center & St. John’s Lutheran Church.
The public is invited to gather to remember those homeless and formerly homeless Knoxvillians who have died in 2012. Knoxville’s 4th annual Homeless Memorial Day features a candlelight walk beginning at Cherokee Health Systems’ Broadway Clinic (at VMC, 511 N. Broadway), followed by a brief memorial service at St. John’s Lutheran Church (544 N. Broadway).
Friday, Dec. 21
A Christmas Carol
7:30 p.m., Clarence Brown Theatre (1714 Andy Holt Ave.). $20-$40.
Oh, go on. Time to get into the holiday spirit. You know you want to!
Saturday, Dec. 22
KHFF Apocalypse Xmas Party
8 p.m., Relix Variety Theatre (1208 N. Central St.). $5.
Okay, so A Christmas Carol doesn’t do it for you? Join the Knoxville Horror Film Festival as it celebrates the winter holidays with a screening of Steven C. Miller’s new slasher movie, Silent Night, a remake of the 1984 cult classic Silent Night, Deadly Night. Slasher Santa will be available for photos!
Sunday, Dec. 23
White Christmas
2 p.m., Tennessee Theatre (604 South Gay St). $6-$8.
All right. So maybe the murderous Santa didn’t get you in the holiday mood, either. But this one’s gotta do it: lots of Technicolor silliness with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, and Rosemary Clooney, not to mention the songs of Irving Berlin.
Monday, Dec. 24 & Tuesday, Dec. 25
Christmas Eve/Christmas
All day.
Okay, take some time off. Now are you in the holiday frame of mind?
