Last summer, to celebrate Metro Pulse’s 20th anniversary, we staged 20Fest, a benefit for the Joy of Music School that featured more than 40 local bands at 10 different venues all over downtown and the Old City. This year, Metro Pulse is turning 21, and we’re doing it again.
MetroFest is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 28, at nine venues: 90 Proof, the Bistro at the Bijou, Boyd’s Jig & Reel, Knoxville Visitors Center, Latitude 35, Pilot Light, Preservation Pub (and its annex building next door), and the Square Room. The lineup is almost complete, but we’re holding on to details until we get the exact schedule figured out. MetroFest is getting help from sponsors Lagunitas Brewing Co., WUTK 90.3 FM, the Joy of Music School, WDVX 91.9 FM, and Visit Knoxville.
All proceeds from the festival will go to the Joy of Music School, which provides free music instruction to disadvantaged and at-risk children.
