Sound Off continues on Wednesday, Dec. 7, as the third round of contestants face off against each other and in front of a panel of judges at the Square Room for a spot in the finals in March. Singer/songwriter Brad Blackwell, eight-piece R&B outfit Soulfinger, alt-country rockers the Hotshot Freight Train, and indie experimentalists Tabula Rasa and Maps Need Reading will each play two original songs and one R.E.M. cover in the contest. The winner will join King Super and the Excellents and Lipliplip Hands, the winners of the first two rounds, in the March final. The overall winner gets an opening spot on an upcoming AC Entertainment concert, studio time, and free band merchandise.
The show starts at 8 p.m. Admission is $5.
The next round of Sound Off will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 11, with Dishwater Blonde, Commerce, Sons of the Southside, and Denver T. Stevens.
