The apparent success of last year’s A K-Town Christmas compilation of holiday songs by local artists has led the producer and organizer, Kent Oglesby, to prepare a follow-up for this holiday season.
“About this time last year, I had just graduated from college and accepted a job, but it didn’t start for another four months,” Oglesby says. “After about four days of watching TV on DVD, I wanted to do something constructive. I’m friends with a lot of musicians, so I got everybody together, and I’ve always loved Christmas music.”
The new collection, K-Town Christmas Vol. II, features music from the Black Cadillacs, Nic Mingie, Nashville’s Vinyl Thief, and more.
K-Town Christmas Vol. II will only be available digitally, and hits iTunes on Nov. 28. All proceeds from the album’s sales go to feeding children in Appalachia and Guatemala through the local nonprofit organization Feeding God’s Children.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story identified Vinyl Thief's hometown as Murfreesboro. The band is based in Nashville.
