Edible Garden Seminar

Serious backyard gardeners have long since started in on their planting for the year, but a free seminar this weekend might provide some more ideas on how to eat local without even leaving home. Karen Petrey, a garden design expert with a Masters from the University of Tennessee, will give a presentation called “Edible Landscape” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stanley’s Greenhouse, 3029 Davenport Road in South Knoxville.

Stanley’s promises, “Experienced as well as novice gardeners will learn which varieties of pears, berries, peaches, grapes, apples, vegetables and herbs grow well in East Tennessee. Heirloom and heritage plants as well as an apple tree that produces four varieties of apples will be included in the lecture.”
