Oak Ridge is in the process of hiring a new police chief, and we hear there was a discreet inquiry as to whether they would be interested in a former sheriff with years of experience in a neighboring county. Hutchison was the long-time sheriff and political power broker in Knox County until he was term-limited out of office. Last year he lost the Republican primary for county mayor to former state Sen. Tim Burchett.
