Meet Your New Homelessness Task Force

After the Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness got its reset button pressed by County Mayor Tim Burchett, he named Ron Peabody (the plan’s biggest critic) and Stephanie Matheny (its primary defender) to head a committee to study the homelessness problem, the homelessness plan, and problems with the plan. They consequently named an “initiating” committee consisting of citizens with experience on both sides of the issue, from neighborhood associations to homeless advocates.

Their first public meeting is Saturday, March 5 at 9 a.m.-1 p.m., St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral (413 W. Cumberland Ave.), “and will address only the process to be used to gather community input, develop proposals, and reach agreement on a set of recommendations....” Roasting the Ten-Year Plan is not on the agenda; the meeting will be led by professional facilitator Gianni Longo.
