Maybe the Crime Lab Can Reconstruct It?

It’s no surprise that getting caught breaking the law often causes extreme reactions. Some criminals strike back or flee the scene. This particular lawbreaker tried to masticate her way to freedom.

At 5 p.m. on June 5, Knoxville Police Department officers were dispatched to a local Kohl’s store because a customer had attempted to pay for merchandise using a fraudulent check. Before the officers arrived, however, she grabbed the check from the employee who had confronted her about it—and ate it. She then ran out of the store.

Officers apprehended the suspect as she was walking away from the store, however. They found multiple fake IDs and other fraudulent checks in her possession, and the Kohl’s employees soon discovered that the same woman had already used fraudulent checks at 11 other Kohl’s stores across the country.

If nothing else, the suspect should find some comfort in the fact that prison food, while not gourmet, does taste better than paper.
