Cari Wade Irvin’s brief article on James Taylor reveals a real ignorance of both the artist and his music. [Calendar Spotlight, May 19, 2011] With a total lack of appreciation for his singing, playing, and dedication to fans, the tripe that poses as an article possesses no more than a wikipedia summary of his career and even less knowledge of his music. The sold-out crowd at his concert was treated to an unforgettable evening of classic folk-rock music, with Taylor spending the entire intermission greeting fans. It’s too bad that the Metro Pulse (the best paper in town) could do no better than take potshots at him. Next time consider doing a real story—and save yourself the embarrassment of “schlock” writing.
