It’s not getting any better.
In 2006, one of the last years of a stable real estate market in Knox County, there were an average of 79 home foreclosures a month. During 2007 the number began to move into the triple digits. The average in 2008 jumped to 112 per month, a 43 percent increase.
The number went to 124 a month in 2009 and 119 a month in 2010.
From 2006 to 2010, the average monthly rate of foreclosures in Knox County went up 50 percent.
After a dip in January and February of this year, foreclosures are back over 100 for March, April, and May of 2011.
