R&B Singer Angell Offers New 'American Idol'-Style Vocal Contest

Knoxville will finally get its own American Idol-style cutthroat pop vocal contest this summer with the Knoxville Voice Competition, organized by Angel Leona Higgs, aka local R&B singer (and former American Idol contestant) Angell.

Higgs’ Angel Leona Voice voice studio is sponsoring the contest, which starts with auditions on July 9 at Bill Jones Music on Kingston Pike and concludes with a public finale on Saturday, Aug. 27. A site for the final round has not been announced.

The panel of judges includes radio host Hallerin Hilton Hill, Knox ivi’s Brent Thompson, and local ex-American Idol contestant Amy Catherine Flynn. The winner earns a cash prize, professional voice lessons, eight hours of studio time, 50 CDs, and a pro photo shoot. For more information or to schedule an audition, e-mail Higgs at angel@angelleonavoice.com.
