The four leading contenders for Knoxville mayor will meet in a debate sponsored by the Knoxville Chamber. (It will be carried live on WBIR-TV and 98.7 FM.)

Big Fatty’s serves up its second annual music festival with 10 local bands, including Wyld F--ken Stallyns, the Vaygues, and Big Bad Oven.

Jerry Garcia Birthday Bash

Local bands celebrate the Grateful Dead guitarist’s music, in a benefit for the Thompson Cancer Center. Continues Tuesday night.

Tuesday, Aug. 2

Bob Weir

8 p.m., Bijou Theatre. $41.

Speaking of the Dead, the band’s other guitarist is here for a solo acoustic performance.

Wednesday, Aug. 3

Jazz Lunch: The Music of Brazil

Noon, the Square Room. $15.

The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra and vocalist Tamara Brown pay tribute to samba, bossa nova, and other Brazilian styles.
