Sam Quinn and Jill Andrews (who is playing at Relix Variety Theatre on Friday, July 8) weren’t the only members of the everybodyfields who started solo careers after that band’s demise in 2009. Drummer Jamie Cook released a solo CD in 2010, and now Josh Oliver, who played keyboards and guitar in the band, has released his first solo disc, Troubles. (Both Cook and Oliver have been plenty busy in the meantime—Cook plays drums in the Black Lillies and Oliver plays with both Quinn and Andrews.) The new disc features Oliver on lead vocals, keys, and guitar; Brandon Story on upright bass; Megan Gregory on fiddle and vocals; and Quinn on harmony vocals. Troubles features original songs and cover versions of Townes Van Zandt’s “White Freightliner Blues” and the Carter Family’s “I Never Will Marry.”
