This week, an important lesson: Making life easier for burglars doesn’t necessarily save you money.
According to a recent Knoxville Police report, a victim reported that two of his parked cars had been entered into while he slept. The man told officers that nothing was taken from one car, but that a $100 gift card was stolen out of the other. Upon further questioning, the victim confessed to the officers that he had a habit of keeping his car doors unlocked because he has had trouble with vehicle burglaries in the past.
Though leaving his vehicles unlocked may have spared him the expense of a broken window, it would seem that an even more cost-effective way for the victim to deal with burglars would be to leave them nothing to steal.
