The Knoxville mayoral campaign is achieving lift-off, with the first round of financial disclosures this week and, next Monday, the first official candidates’ forum. All four remaining contenders have promised to attend the event at 7 p.m. on Feb. 7 at Church Street United Methodist Church. It is sponsored by the Council of Involved Neighborhoods.
The candidates still in the race are Ivan Harmon, Mark Padgett, Marilyn Roddy, and Madeline Rogero. They will each be asked to answer the same set of questions about issues of concern to local neighborhoods. WATE anchor Lori Tucker will moderate the proceedings. It’s an interesting slate, diverse in age, gender, and personality, so the chance to see them all together in one place shouldn’t be missed by either local political junkies or people who, you know, actually care about the future of Knoxville. (Or those of us who fall into both camps.)
