Attorney Charles Swanson will likely be taking a pay cut to become Mayor Madeline Rogero’s law director. Swanson makes $90,000 a year advising City Council and, with 26 years’ experience in the job, is likely the most knowledgeable attorney about city law issues Rogero could have named. But he has also had a private practice at Sheppard Swanson and Mynatt in addition to the part-time Council position.
But the city law director’s job has its perks. Former law director Tom Varlan is now U.S. District Judge Varlan and the departing Debbie Poplin is becoming the U.S. District Court clerk.
