First Friday

The monthly arts extravaganza includes the usual range of gallery shows, plus music on Market Square from Christabel and the Jons.

Sunday, Sept. 4


1-10 p.m., Neyland Drive. Free.

Full day of music, food, wrestling, and other entertainments—culminating in the traditional massive fireworks show at 9:30.

The General

3 p.m., Tennessee Theatre. $6-$8.

Buster Keaton’s classic silent comedy from 1926 returns to the big screen.

Monday, Sept. 5

Doggie Dip

11 a.m.-5 p.m., Inskip Pool. Free.

The city’s pools close to humans for the year on Sept. 4, but before they drain the Inskip water, you can bring your dog for a swim.
