School Board Member Receives Threatening Phone Calls

Knox County school board member Pam Trainor revealed at a recent community meeting that during the run-up to the vote on an elementary school for the Carter community, she received threatening phone calls.

Trainor, who represents South Knoxville, voted against the school because she felt it was “so much money in one spot.”

Queried after the vote, Trainor said “Knox County Schools upped security and checked on me every day… Most of the folks up there that were coming to meetings and speaking their piece are just beautiful people. (You) can’t judge a whole community on just a handful.

“I guess it was just me, because I’m one of the only board members with a similar story.”
