Because it’s always a good time to be thinking about bacon, we’re going to discuss BaconFest 2011 a few months early. Last year it was in March; this year we’ll have to wait until Sept. 16 and 17. To help pass the time, Laura Sohn and Mockingbird Events have begun a new website, knoxbaconfest.com. And Mockingbird and event cosponsors Blackberry Farm and Benton’s Smoky Mountain Country Hams have announced the chefs for the posh Swine and Dine dinner Friday night: Sean Brock, Executive Chef of McCrady’s and Husk both in Charleston, S.C. and Joseph Lenn, Executive Chef at the Barn at Blackberry Farm. Another neat thing: Saturday will feature a Baking With Bacon session at Magpies.
