Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey Sets Up Government Waste Website

Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey says he isn’t setting himself up to run for governor in 2014, but he continues to appeal to Tea Party members and other conservative Republicans. Ramsey’s latest e-mail says the constitution requires state Supreme Court justices be elected, but if not, the constitution has to be changed to continue to appoint them. Ramsey stepped in to break a tie in committee to keep such a proposal alive.

Earlier he had noted he wants to abolish collective bargaining for teachers rather than a compromise version moving through the House, setting him apart from Gov. Bill Haslam and House Speaker Beth Harwell.

Now Ramsey has set up TNREDTAPE.com. It’s an interactive website that allows small businesses to tell their stories about abuse by state regulations or state employees—“Ridiculous Employee Decisions That Affect People Everyday” according to the website. The site features a video of Ramsey as “chief red tape cutter” and will feature stories of small businesses abused by regulators.

Presumably the abuses are being carried out by state employees who work for Haslam.
