One of the most obvious changes the new county administration has brought about is in a small matter of salutatory etiquette. Mayor Tim Burchett’s preferred form of how-do-you-do is a genial right-handed fist-bump. Those in the City County Building unfamiliar with the practice—maybe one of the few political tendencies Burchett shares with President Barack Obama—are no doubt getting up to speed in a hurry. “We’ve already sent out a memo—no more handshaking,” Burchett deadpans. “Especially during flu season. It’s a public health issue.”
