Hank Days Lineup Announced

Knoxville, which may or may not be the site of his death, has as good a claim on a Hank Williams celebration as anywhere else, except maybe Mount Olive, Ala., where he was born, or Nashville, the headquarters for his brief career. So the upcoming Hank Day celebration set for the historic Candoro Marble Building in South Knoxville on Oct. 3 is an appropriate way to celebrate Williams’ life and music.

The festival’s lineup has just been announced, and it’s a fitting one—Blount County’s first couple of country music, Jeff Barbra and Sarah Pirkle, are headliners for the all-day music schedule, with Andy Pirkle, Mitch Garza, Greg Horne, Rose Hawley, and Drew Gilch also scheduled to perform. The festival will also include tours of the Candoro site and a jambalaya cook-off.

All proceeds from Hank Day will go toward restoration of the Candoro Marble Building. Admission is $5; children 12 and under are free.
