John Stancil Begins Campaigning for City Council

Next year’s election isn’t just for city mayor—candidates are gearing up for City Council races as well. Downtown and City People veteran John Stancil has begun campaigning for At-Large Seat 1.

Stancil and his wife Cynthia lived downtown and Stancil was a board member for City People, serving as vice-president. They renovated and moved into a house in Parkridge. Stancil serves on the Historic Zoning Commission and is active in Knox Heritage.

There will be three at-large seats on the ballot next year as well as the 5th District seat now held by term-limited Bob Becker. Joe Bailey, Marilyn Roddy, and Chris Woodhull are term-limited in at-large seats. Roddy is running for mayor.

In other 2011 election news, former Councilman Rob Frost—who has been publicly considering a run for mayor for months now—filed paperwork to name campaign treasurers on Tuesday, the first step on the electoral path.
