Young Professional Democrats Unite

There’s a new player in local politics, a group of young professionals organized to promote Democratic candidates.

The Young Professional Democrats of East Tennessee gathered at Oodles last week to whoop it up for Randy Walker and generate some buzz to “defeat Stacey Campfield.” Walker is running against Republican Campfield for the state Senate. The group heard state Rep. Joe Armstrong, a Knoxville Democrat who has served with Campfield in the House, warn that Campfield’s ideas are “extreme for that district.”

A partial list of the group’s steering committee includes Shelley Breeding, Tasha Blakney, Mark Padgett, Cortney Piper, Nick Galbraith, and Jessica Blevins.
