If you haven’t been paying much attention, you might think this whole fight over a proposed business park at Midway Road has been going on an awfully long time. If you have been paying attention, you know it.
The latest of who-knows-how-many-chapters to come is this Thursday, Nov. 18. The second of two public meetings on the issue requested by County Mayor Tim Burchett will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. at West High School, 3326 Sutherland Ave. Like the first one, held Tuesday at Carter High School, this will be less a forum than a sort of policy trade show, with both proponents and opponents of the plan setting up informational booths, soliciting comments, and answering questions.
Granted, it seems unlikely that one more meeting is going to change minds among the Development Corp./Chamber crowd pushing hard for the park, or among the East Knox County residents who see it as looming blot on the landscape. But it could be a good chance for people who still don’t know much or haven’t made up their minds about the proposal to hear from all sides.
